Abigail’s Lodge is a 3 bed, 2 bath self catering property which sleeps up to 5 guests, 2 doubles and a single, with one double en suite, your ideal base when in West Cork. The house has stunning harbour views to the front and a large rear garden. You are 20 mins drive from Cork International Airport and 5 mins from the busy tourist town of Kinsale and close enough to walk into town along the amazing coastline walk, which even has two watering holes along the way.

Summercove is the place to be, peaceful yet on your door step are some of the best amenities such as, The Bulman Bar/Restaurant (voted the Best Pub in Ireland), Charles Fort (one of the finest star shaped Forts in the World, 300yrs old), Summercove is the Start/ End point of the Wild Atlantic Way, a fantastic Coastal Walk, you walk past the Fort and follow the coastline path towards the open Atlantic Ocean and views of the Old Head. Slipway and Beach, people often hire kayaks and go exploring the inner harbour, Bandon river or go into town for a coffee by water! All within 100 metres of the house In the evening, after days exploring, you can sit in the front garden watching the sunset or walk down to the slipway beside the Bulman Bar and sip “Sundowners” as the Sun slips away behind Kinsale to the West, while the waves lap the shoreline beneath your feet.  Summercove is a place that you will keep coming back to, its got everything, views, walks, food and people.

This is the ONLY RENTAL accommodation in Kinsale with its own Motor Boat which can be rented by the hour to go exploring further out along the coast and see the Old Head Lighthouse (close to the site of the sinking of the RMS Lusitania) or do some sea fishing, naturally subject to weather, bookings and T’s & C’s.

Parking on site and it is free.

Your Host: Daragh Keating, is the Mechanic for the RNLI so looks after the Lifeboat in Kinsale, ensuring the Lifeboat is always ready to launch and rescue seafarers in distress.  He enjoys chatting with visitors and helping make their stay memorable and hopefully ensure a return visit and lives very close to the Abigail’s Lodge so on hand if you need anything.

To Book: Just call or email Daragh with your requirements and he will get back to you ASAP.  Abigail’s Lodge requires 50% booking deposit and the balance paid one week prior to arrival.  All light & heating is included.

If you would like to stay for an extended period of weeks or months, please let Daragh know and he will work out a price.

Check in is after 4pm and check out is before 11am, however you are welcome to store bags if you arrive or depart outside this times.

Baby Sitting: There is an excellent babysitter living close by.

Bikes & Kayaks can be rented for your stay and will be on site for your arrival. Please contact me to arrange.

About Desmond Townhouse 

Desmond Townhouse is a beautiful Georgian House in the heart of Kinsale and offers not only location, location, location but a lovingly restored 260-year-old House.

There are four exceptionally large Suites and sleeps 11. All 4 Suites have large ensuite’s with TV’s.

The Ground floor boasts a fabulous large kitchen/dining room along with separate utility room, toilet/wet room leading up onto a lovely private deck area with BBQ.

1st floor has a Deluxe Double King Bed Suite and a Triple with a Super King Bed and a single bed.

2nd floor has two Triple Suites each with King Beds and single beds. All have large ensuites too.

Desmond house has private and secure parking for two cars via our rear entrance.

Kinsale is famous for: The Gourmet Capital of Ireland, Wild Atlantic Way, Old Head Golf Club, sailing, unique boutiques, nearby beaches, fishing, wonderful walks, and cycling. It also boasts some of the nicest family-run shops from fashion to book shops, galleries and great coffee shops and bars.

House rules – no pets and no smoking, please.

Desmond House is available for self-catering from Saturday 18th July until 3rd October with some dates now booked. Minimum let 1 week. Check-in 4 pm depart 10 am Sat-Sat.

Stunning sea view house within 1 km of Kinsale town-centre;  5 Viking Wharf, Kinsale  has 3-4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and sleeps 8. The house is 1.9 km from the sandy Dock Beach and only 900 meters from Acton’s Hotel in the centre of Kinsale.

5 Viking Wharf is the end house in a small terrace of 5 houses.   Finished to an extremely high standard and fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable holiday stay including for gourmet cooking, should you decide to stay in. The house sleeps 8, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a fourth bedroom/ TV den with very comfortable double sofa bed. The living room  has a real  log burning stove and electric storage heaters. The bedrooms are heated by electric wall hung heaters.

GROUND FLOOR: One large double bedroom with double bed + 1 den/TV room with a double sofabed. These two rooms share a bathroom with underfloor heating,   walk-in shower , heated towel rail. There is also a utility room with washing machine and separate tumble dryer on this floor and the entrance hall with storage space. The den has a second TV with Sky and DVD player.

FIRST FLOOR: Bright and sunny open plan living/dining/ kitchen room taking in stunning waterside views and balcony. Sky TV cable package and DVD; log burning stove, music system,  broadband. Kitchen fitted with all mod cons, such as dishwasher, double oven (one with microwave function), hob and fridge/freezer. The dining table sits 8 comfortably. There is a small south facing balcony with a patio set to enjoy the amazing harbour views.

SECOND FLOOR: One large master bedroom with king-sized bed with en-suite walk-in shower + one twin bedroom  also en-suite with walk-in shower. All bathrooms have underfloor heating, and hot towel rails. There is solar panels on the roof for  heating the water, backed up by an electric immersion heater. The house is fitted with a remote monitored alarm system.

The house is perfect for 3 couples, each with their own bathroom or we have a lot of 3 generation families, who enjoy the individual spaces the house provides.  There is plenty of free parking around the house.  No pets or smoking allowed in house;  minimum rent 4 nights; during summer season 7 days. If you stay for 2 weeks, there will be cleaners and a  change of linen/towels after one week. Below a few extracts from our Visitors book:
